Why is Data’s skin (on Star Trek TNG) a non human color?
Dr. Noonien Soong, Data’s creator, worked to make Data appear human–random-appearing eye blinks etc. Why wouldn’t he make his skin appear human?

You would think he would give him a more human color, but I think maybe he would have met more resistance if he had made him look exactly like a human. Throughout the Next Gen. there were some people that didn’t treat Data as a human or respect him so you kind of have to think they wouldn’t like it if he looked exactly like a human. Another reason could be that he wasn’t able Technologically to do this, though sometime in the future (not sure of the number of years) The Borg Queen was able to make Data some skin with hair and actual feeling. I think it was in Insurrection. Though this is just my opinion. Dr. Soong could have just like the golden color!
